The department of Botany started functioning in the year 1980 with an aim to develop a society that has a love for nature and develop an inquisitive mind among the students to unravel the mysteries of living organisms through various academic and co-curricular activities. Department was upgraded to PG Department by introducing the MSc program in Botany (self-financing) in 2014. The department started two new programs; BSc and MSc Biotechnology in 2000 and 2004 respectively and later it get separated in 2005 into a new department, and MSc. Integrated Biology in 2020.

The dedicated teaching, curricular and extracurricular activities make a difference to our children, in our society and enable them to fit to excel in the wider world. The faculty includes; experts and active researchers representing different areas of Biology such as Taxonomy, Phytochemistry, and Biotechnology. Dr. Alfred Joe, our faculty has identified 27 new Angiosperm plant species.  Our students learn through doing, making, and experience.
