NATIONAL READING DAY -19 JUNE 2022

LEGAMUS  - READING WEEK - 20/06/2022 to 24/06/202

The department organized Legamus - Reading Week celebration in connection with the National Reading Day. The event coordinated by the department in association with the Speak English Club of the college mainly focused on promoting interest in books and reading among the students of the college. Various activities related to reading were conducted on 5 days starting from 20^th June 2022. Book tour was the first event of Legamus in which the students of final year BA English programme visited all the classes of the college during the first hour to introduce a book and its author. The second day of Legamus was marked with a Reading hour and Cosplay which was attended by students from various departments of the college. Library books of fiction and nonfiction were distributed to the students and it was followed by a session of book reviews. ‘Cosplay’ performed by the final year BA English students was the highlight of the event in which students recreated the characters in books on the stage. Invited Lecture by Dr. C V Francis, Former Head of the Department, Christ College Irinjalakuda and Book Club inauguration were conducted on the third day of Legamus. Book Club, a joint venture of the department and the Speak English Club aims to promote serious reading and sharing of reviews among the students who are the members of the club. The students of final year BA English programme toured the entire college on the fourth day of Legamus with a mobile quiz which received exciting response. A lecture on ‘Relevance of Reading’ delivered by Ms. Sameena Thomas, Faculty of the department was the event with which the Reading Week celebrations concluded on 24^th June 2022. Handicrafts by the students added to the colour and splendour of the event and their active participation made it a grand success.
