Observance of International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking 2022

                 On 26th June 2022, International day against Drug Abuse was observed by the Research Department of Commerce of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda .The  day is  observed to mark the importance of the fight against drug abuse and creating an awareness among citizens about the impact of drug .'Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crisis  ' is the theme of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking this year. The focus of this year is to curb the spread of misinformation on the topic and to encourage the exchange of facts related to drugs The main aim behind observing this day is an expression of determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. This day enables to create awareness among individuals, communities and various organisations in the world about the major problem that illicit drugs pose to the society at large. Drug abuse is accompanied by a devastating social impact upon community life. The drug have adverse effect on industry, education and training and the family as well as on its contribution to violence, crime, financial problems, housing problems, and homelessness. Drug abuse can be prevented through communication, peer relationships, self-efficacy and assertiveness, drug resistance skills and reinforcement of anti-drug attitudes. To celebrate this day students of III DC Bcom and II DC Bcom took a pledge which was constituted by Narcotics Control Bureau and the main theme of pledge was to Say Yes to Life and No to Drugs. The students committed themselves to consciously co-operate in stopping drug abuse and stay away from drugs to live a healthy life. An automatic E-certificate was generated to the mail IDs of all the students who took the pledge. Teachers also actively participated in taking pledge.It helped to create a sense of encouragement to students   . Overall the day met with resounding success and was a memorable one. The co-operation of all the students and teachers was there throughout the process.
