International Workshop in Cyber Security 2K11
( IWCS 2K11 )
December 6 - 10, 2011
A forty eight year old aided, affiliated and reaccredited centre of higher learning with two research centers, eight PG Programs and 13 UG Programs, St. Joseph’s College, perched amidst the verdant expanse of the solemn temple town of Irinjalakuda, a suburb of the cultural capital Thrissur, brought light, life and love to the women of the hamlet after long years of gloom and despair that stunted their growth and maturity. Over ninety percent of the women community of the suburb irrespective of caste or creed is college educated today thanks to this institution. It is the incredible story of the miraculous transformation of country Janes to highly sophisticated dames of merit and mettle. Strategically placed about forty kilometers west of the Kochi International Airport and 22 kilometers from Thrissur Railway Station (Southern Railway), it is well accessible by all means of travel from all sides. A renowned pilgrim complex, the town is also home to the only Bharatha Temple in the world.
As old as the college itself, the centre is an academic complex of three disciplines – Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science - the sub-centre of which imparts the UGC sponsored Innovative Program, Masters in Cyber Security. The centre has by this time hosted three international academic colloquia and a dozen national events apart from publishing a number of books and compendia of proceedings. Its infant Research wing has already produced a doctorate and runs full to its brim in doctoral guidance. The present workshop seeks to dwell on the farthest frontiers of the thrust area and to preserve the results thereby gleaned as a scholarly assemblage of rare insight and delight to those obsessed with security concerns of systems Cybernetic application processes.

The thrust area of the workshop falls at the intersection between Mathematics and Cyber Science. The advent of Internet opened up infinite opportunities and possibilities in all facets of human life in the yester decade, but not entirely free from the security threat it brought in its wake. With its wide ranging and inescapable impact on every aspect of human activity including finance, defense, government, education, healthcare, arts and entertainment, Cyber security has become increasingly important in today’s network world. The present combo-event of three-day-workshop and two-day-conference will include deliberations on the following major themes:
The prominent scholars in this area are participating in this conference. In particular some of the specific areas such as design of cryptographic algorithms, theory of S-Boxes, Public Key Cryptography, hashing algorithms, data base security, authentication codes – analysis and design, Hadamard matrices, secret sharing schemes and combinatorial Designs are introduced by the authorities in this area. Besides lectures, research papers on frontier areas will be presented by young researchers, engineers and industry professionals at a global level.
