Outcome Based Education

Every learner is different with a unique set of academic and intellectual requirements. Embracing the uniqueness in each learner, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda stands with a feasible solution that favours directional approach to learning through its Outcome Based education (OBE). Combined with the mastery of the rich and professional faculty base, the OBE system followed in the institution makes learning a pleasant and a rewarding experience for the learners. The course programs in the curriculum are demarcated with specific exit outcomes and thus becomes accountable not just to the educational needs of the learners but also satiates the requirements of the employment sector by delivering skilled and educated professionals. An efficiently organised package of academic and professional gratification is our promise of adopting OBE into the curriculum. At the end of the day, with a goal-oriented curriculum, the students have a clear picture of what they want and the academy has the way to give what they need.

Outcomes are defined at three different levels for under graduate and post graduate programmes:

Programme Outcomes (POs) are statements that describe what the students graduating from general programmes should be able to do,
Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) are statements that describe what the graduates of a specific programme should be able to do and;
Course Outcomes (COs) or statements describe what the students should be able to do at the end of a course
